Milan Popović, DMA
Milan Popović, DMA is a Serbian harpsichordist and pianist, active as a soloist, chamber musician, piano accompanist, and continuo player. He earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Harpsichord and Piano from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, studying under full professors Ninoslav Živković and Zorica Ćetković. In 2013, he successfully defended his doctoral art project titled Interpretative Connections between 18th and 20th Century French Keyboard Music.
Throughout his studies, he participated in numerous masterclasses both in Serbia and abroad. He was a scholarship holder of the Austrian Baroque Academy in Gmunden and worked with renowned harpsichordists and pedagogues such as Egon Mihajlović, Siegbert Rampe, Blandine Rannou, Jory Vinikour, Maria Louisa Baldassari, Erich Traxler, Anne Marie Dragosits, and Eugène Michelangeli.
He is a laureate and prizewinner of numerous national and international piano competitions. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed at prominent music festivals including Ars Vivendi Clavicembalum, Trigonale, Aestas, and the Early Music Festival, presenting a wide repertoire in both solo and ensemble settings.
In addition to regular performances throughout Serbia, Popović has appeared in Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. As a soloist, he has performed with the Artistic Ensemble of the Serbian Army “Stanislav Binički” and the Faculty of Music Orchestra, and has also collaborated with the RTS Symphony Orchestra, Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, Jewish Chamber Orchestra, and New Belgrade Opera Baroque Orchestra. He is the continuo player of the Baroque Orchestra Aestas and a founding member of the early music ensemble Temenos.
His performances have been recorded and broadcast by Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) and Austrian Radio (ORF).
Popović is the founder and artistic coordinator of the event Days of Early Music, held annually at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade since 2013 under the auspices of the European Early Music Network.
He currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Harpsichord at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
