The IN.TUNE Governing Board has adopted a statement expressing strong solidarity with the students, staff, teachers, artists and leadership of the University of Arts Belgrade, a founding member of the alliance, during its meeting on 11 May at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. The statement expresses deep concern about the current situation affecting the academic community in Serbia, including pressure on universities, violence against academic community members, and actions that challenge academic freedom, institutional autonomy, and the rule of law.

As a European Universities Alliance built on trust, long-term cooperation and shared European values, IN.TUNE underlines that attacks on academic freedom concern not only one institution or one national context, but the wider European cultural, artistic and academic community. The Governing Board also recognised the resilience, courage, professionalism and continued commitment of colleagues and students at the University of Arts Belgrade, whose participation in the alliance remains deeply valued by the entire IN.TUNE community.

From May 11 to 13, 2026, members of the IN.TUNE Alliance gathered at mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Vienna for the IN.TUNE Alliance Summit, a three-day event dedicated to the exchange of experiences, discussions on the future directions of music and arts education in Europe, and the planning of further project activities.

As the Alliance’s largest event, the Summit brought together members of the work packages, working groups, the Steering Committee, the Alliance Management Team, the Student Council, and associated partners. The program includes plenary sessions, thematic meetings, cross-group discussions, artistic programs, and numerous opportunities for networking and strengthening cooperation among partner institutions.

The delegation of the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade and the University of Arts in Belgrade is participating in the Summit together with colleagues from seven partner institutions.

Twenty-two representatives of the faculty will stay in Vienna from May 10 to 13, 2026, where they will participate in the major international IN.TUNE Summit. During the event, the delegation will take part in the programme activities of their working groups and present the institution’s work within the IN.TUNE Alliance.

At the second international competition “Vienna Fest,” the chamber ensemble “Duo Hertz,” consisting of students from our faculty, Lara Arbajter (piano) and Ognjen Vujanac (violin), from the class of full professor Dejan Subotić, DMA, won a gold medal in their age category.
