Marina Marković, PhD

Assistant professor of Musicology

Marina Marković (1968, Belgrade) graduated in Musicology at the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, obtaining her PhD degree from the same institution in 2010, with the thesis focused on Serbian Church chant in the context of Serbian and Russian cultural relations. During her undergraduate studies she was working as a music associate at the radio station Studio B (radio show “The Concert of Studio B“), as well as at the Radio Drama Department of the Radio Television of Serbia. Marina Marković was involved at the research project Endangered Archive: Voiceless Choirs. Serbian Musical Collections from Zemun in 19th and Early 20th Centuries, realized by the British Library (London), Historical Archive of Belgrade and Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade. Also, she was collaborating in the design and realization of the cultural programs of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture “Ruski dom” in Belgrade, where she held a number of public lectures on Russian music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Nowadays, she is involved in the scientific project Serbian Music Identities in World’s Cultural Context of the Department of Musicology, concerning preparing, verifying and data processing activities, relating to scientific researches included in the project.

Since 2014 Marina Marković has been working as an Assistant teacher for the field of Musicology at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Her main research interests include Orthodox church music, as well as interdisciplinary music studies. She has published studies and reviews in professional journals and thematic conference proceedings of international significance. Marina Marković is the author of the book Hymns of Srbljak in Monophonic Anthologies of Serbian Chant (2006, Belgrade: Signature). She is a member of the Serbian Musicological Society since 2008.
