Aleksandra Jovanović
Aleksandra Jovanović is a musicologist and one of the most exciting opera singers of younger generation coming from Serbia.
Ms. Jovanović holds MA Degrees both in Voice and Musicology at the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, currently being a PhD candidate, under Aneta Ilić. She was engaged as a PhD student assisting in teaching process in courses Voice and Voice teaching methods for two years. She perfected further at the University for Musik and Perfoming Arts in Frankfurt am Main.
As an opera singer she came to the international public`s attention after winning the SWR Junge Operstars competition. She also won prizes in competitions such as Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Seoul International Music Competition (being the only European singer in the competition final) and Ada Sary International Vocal Artistry Competition.
Following her successful international debut as Queen of the Night in famous Günter Kramer`s production of The Magic Flute at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ms. Jovanović was invited to return to this production in the following seasons and has since performed in some of the most notable opera houses and companies, such as Paris Opera`s Palais Garnier, Vienna State Opera, Gärtnerplatztheater, Teatre Principal de Palma (Spain) and Dortmund Philharmonic.
She has made her stage debut at the Opera and Theatre Madlenianum in her native Belgrade, which was followed with her engagements at the National Theatre in Belgrade and Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad,-
Ms. Jovanović is also a dedicated concert performer – having made a tight professional collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra of Serbian Broadcasting corporation (RTS), she has performed soprano solos in titles such as – Haydn`s The Creation and Mozart and Faure`s Requiems, especially standing out with performances of Orff`s Carmina Burana, the premiere and recording of The Lake for soprano and orchestra by Božo Banović, perfomances at nationally broadcast New Year`s concerts and most recently performance with Thomas Hampson at the BEMUS festival.
