Matija Andjelković
Matija Anđelković was born in 1989 in Vranje. He completed his undergraduate studies in composition at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Prof. Vlastimir Trajković. At the same faculty, he earned a Master’s degree in composition under Prof. Isidora Žebeljan, as well as a Master’s degree in music production under the mentorship of Dr. Marko Stojanović. In his final thesis, he presented a comprehensive overview of the production process in classical, popular, and electronic music, while his Master’s composition Apeiron – A Dream for Orchestra was performed by the RTS Symphony Orchestra. He is currently in the final year of his doctoral studies in the class of Dr. Dragan Latinčić.
From 2015 to 2017, he worked as a teaching associate at the Department of Composition. Between 2019 and 2021, he taught at the “Kosta Manojlović” Secondary Music School, Department of Music Production. He is currently employed as an assistant at the Faculty of Music, Department of Composition, specializing in Music Production.
He has developed his skills in electronic music and analog synthesis under the guidance of eminent professors and experts such as Srđan Hofman, Svetlana Savić, Milan Milojković, Dobrivoje Milijanović, and Mladen Marković, and also attended a course on the EMS Synthi 100 synthesizer led by Paul Pignon.
Active as a composer, producer, pedagogue, and performer, he works across artistic and experimental music, as well as electronic and popular genres, and applied music for film, theater, and video games. His output encompasses a wide range of formats — from solo, chamber, and orchestral pieces, through the use of electric instruments, computers, and controllers, to fully electronic works.
He is the recipient of the Josip Slavenski Award for his composition The Legend of the Sleepers – A Glimpse and a Dream for Eight Instruments, as well as the Neda Depolo Award in 2023 for The Masque of the Red Death – Afterparty. His composition Little Lisa – The Leisure of a Young Goddess was selected by Radio Belgrade to represent Serbia at the 83rd International Rostrum of Composers in Wrocław.
