Marija Misita, DMA

Associate professor in the artistic field of Violin

Marija Misita (1975) graduated the violin from the Faculty of Music in the class of prof. Aleksandar Pavlović. She continued her studies in Salzburg in 2001/2002 (University “Mozarteum”) with prof. Lukas Hagen.
She is the winner of the first prize in the International competition “Petar Konjović” in Belgrade in 1997.

She performed as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra “Stanislav Binički”, Niš Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Art in Banja Luka, the Chamber Orchestra “St. George Strings”, Chamber orchestra “Dušan Skovran”, the Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales and Orchestra of Music School “Stanković”. She has given recitals in the most important halls of Belgrade.
Misita participated in the festivals “Days of Mokranjac” in Negotin, Budva Theatre City Festival, Bemus, Nimus, Organ Days, “Silence flower” Constantinus, A-fest i International Review of Composers.

For many years she was a member of the most prominent Serbian chamber orchestras, such as Belgrade orchestra “Dušan Skovran”, “St. George Strings”, and the symphonic orchestra “Camerata Serbica”. Between 2000 and 2004 she played in the chamber orchestra “Salzburg Chamber Soloists”. She was a lecturer in the course of chamber music “Colluvio” (Austria) in 2005 and 2010.
Marija Misita plays in a duo with violinist Madlen Stokić Vasiljević performing both the classical and contemporary Serbian repertoire. As a member of the piano trio “Classica Aeterna”, and in a duo with guitarist Milan Dujmović, she performs in Belgrade and Serbia.
She was employed as an assistant professor of violin 2009-2013 at the Academy of Art in Banja Luka. Since 2009 she has been working as an assistant professor at the String instruments Department of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
