Maja Milanović, DMA

Associate professor of String Instruments - complementary courses

Maja Milanović (viola) graduated and completed her master’s degree at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Professor Petar Ivanović. She continued her advanced studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she completed a two-year master’s program under the mentorship of Professor David Takeno.

She earned her doctoral degree in 2024 at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Professor Dejan Mlađenović.

As a soloist, she has performed with the St. George Strings Chamber Orchestra and shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Gordan Nikolić, Dejan Lazić, Maxim Rysanov, Zoran Todorović, Sreten Krstić, Kirill Rodin, Robert McDuffie, Ksenija Janković, among others.

She was a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra for ten years, as assistant principal violist. During this period, she collaborated with some of the most prominent names in the world of classical music, including Zubin Mehta, Daniel Raiskin, Cristian Mandeal, Sir Neville Marriner, and many others.

She was also an active member of the Camerata Serbica Symphony Orchestra, with whom she performed extensively both in Serbia and abroad, collaborating with artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Ion Marin, Emmanuel Pahud, Wilfried Strehle, and others.

With various ensembles, she has participated in a range of international projects, most notably her collaboration with the Det Jyske Ensemble from Denmark, with whom she gave a series of performances in Denmark, Greece, and Serbia. On that occasion, she also performed alongside the legendary Jessye Norman at a concert in Aalborg (Denmark).

During her stay in England, she was a guest member of the Chamber Ensemble of the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, she performed as a member of the international orchestra at the Belt and Road Festival in Shenzhen (China), representing Serbia.

Maja Milanović has been a member of the St. George Strings Chamber Orchestra since 1998, performing in over 1000 concerts throughout Serbia and the region, as well as on numerous tours across Europe.

Since 2010, she has been employed at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade as an Associate Professor in the artistic field of Viola – orchestral excerpts and comparative studies.
