Maja Mihić, DMA
Maja Mihić is a concert pianist, chamber musician and a professor of piano. As a soloist, she has been highly praised by the critics for her “intelligent and subtle performances of French impressionism”. She is also a member of several active ensembles and is always in great demand as a chamber musician and piano accompanist. The critics have described her as “very devoted, delicate and inspiring collaborator”.
Maja Mihić has given many solo recitals, performed at various prestigious festivals and has performed with St. George Strings, Symphony Orchestra “Stanislav Binički”, chamber orchestra “Sonore” and with the Wind Ensemble of the Belgrade Philharmonic. She won numerous prizes at national and international competitions for pianists and chamber ensambles. In more than thirty years of her artistic career, she has performed throughout Serbia and the Western Balkans as well as in Italy, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, the USA and Russia.
Since its founding, she has been the pianist of trio Pokret (violin-clarinet-piano), an innovative, creative music ensemble, focused on 21st-century repertoire. By constant commissioning of new works, she participated in the performance and recording of many different works by Serbian contemporary authors, including more than thirty world premieres. For their constant contribution to the Serbian contemporary music, they have been awarded numerous recognitions.
Born and educated in Belgrade, Serbia, Maja Mihić graduated from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade. She obtained her DMA degree in piano performance in 2016 with highest distinction. At the Department of piano, she teaches Piano accompaniment and Methods of Artistic Research at the doctoral level.
