Dr. Rosica Becheva

Assistant professor at the Department for electronic music and audio engineering at the New Bulgarian University; visiting teacher at the study program Applied Research of Music

Dr. Rosica Becheva completed her master studies in music theory from the State music academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, with specialist studies in music pedagogy at the Academy for music and dance in Plovdiv (Bulgaria). She defended her doctoral thesis on methodology of work with electronic instruments, the first of the kind in Bulgaria, in 2004 at the New Bulgarian University. Her main research and teaching fields include problems of integrating music and new computer technologies in music education and analysis, auditive training in music theory disciplines, electronic and computer music, along with methodology of using synthesizers and electronic music interpretation.
From 2000 she has been developing and implementing her own methodology of work with synthesizers within NBU courses. She participated in developing curriculum of Computer music module at the same university. In academic year 2009/10 she introduced the course “Interpretation of electronic music” on bachelor studies, and within the permanent seminar “Musical sub-horizons” at the Music department of the New Bulgarian University. Currently she is assistant professor and assistant director at the same department.
