Borisav Miljković, PhD
Borisav Miljković (Kraljevo, 1987) completed master’s studies at the Department of Ethnomusicology (2012) under the mentorship of Mirjana Zakić, PhD, and bachelor studies at the Department of Conducting (2015) in the class of Prof. Bojan Suđić at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
From 2015 to 2020, he worked as a teacher of courses at the Department of Serbian Traditional Singing and Playing at the “Stevan Mokranjac” Primary School in Kraljevo, “Mokranjac” in Belgrade, and “Kornelije Stanković” in Trstenik. He was engaged as an expert associate at the ZUOV for the development of curricula and programs for elementary and secondary music schools for the group of ethnomusicological courses (2018/2019 and 2019/2020).
He is a long-time associate of the KUD “Abrašević” from Kraljevo, a society within which he has won numerous awards and recognitions at festivals of choreographed folklore and traditional heritage.
The focus of his scientific interest is the instrumental practice of Serbia and the region in light of correlative relations with identity modalities. He demonstrates the research undertaking of mapping stylistic categories within the evolutionary mechanism of tradition in a practical way through his pedagogical work. In several international symposia he has participated presenting Serbian organological practice within the framework of world ethnomusicology. Since 2017, he has been an active member of the ICTM study group for musical instruments.
He is one of the founders and associates of the Center for Ethnomusicological Activities, which has implemented several projects under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. As an instrumentalist and professional associate, he participated in numerous festivals, events and projects of an artistic and educational character, the aim of which is the preservation and presentation of the intangible cultural heritage of Serbia: КОМА (2014), БЕМУС (2017, 2019), „Едукативна радионица за заштиту фрулашке праксе“ (2017, 2021, 2022, 2023), „Радионицe српског традиционалног певања и свирања на фрули и кавалу“ (2018, 2019), „Фестивал традиционалне музике – Срећко Перчевић“ (2022, 2023), „Музички инструменти Србије“ (2023).
He received his doctorate from the Department of Ethnomusicology at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2025 with the topic Frula Playing Practice in Serbia as a Hallmark of National Identity.
