Dragan Latinčić, DMA

Associate professor in the artistic field of Composition

Dragan Latinčić (Belgrade, 1982) studied composition at the Belgrade Faculty of Music (class of Prof. Academician Vlastimir Trajković). At the same university he works as assistant professor. He earned his PhD degree in 2014 with the composition Batal, preludes for string orchestra and theoretical study of Application of microtonal music (a) the instrumentalist Middle-East and Balkan music of folk provenance, and (b) in the instrumental, chamber and orchestral music in contemporary acoustic type western art music (attempt of establishing an autonomous creative – composer concept), completed under the mentorship of professor academician Vlastimir Trajkovic. He attended several summer and winter courses of composition (among others, he worked with Nigel Osborne—Summer Academy Prague-Wien-Budapest ISA06 [Mürzzuschlag, Austria, August 2006], also with Louis Andriessen—Young composers meeting [Apel¬doorn, Netherlands, March 2007], and with Salvatore Sciarrino—Master-class of composition – Acanthes [Metz, France, July 2008]). His compositions have been performed in several European countries (e.g. Apel¬doorn, Vertigo, for instrumental ensemble, also played in Amsterdam in Ga¬¬u¬¬de¬a¬mus Music Week in 2007; Metz, Un astre traversa le ciel azuré… for orchestra, performed by Orchestre National de Lorraine; Dubrovnik, Carnival for string trio, performed by ensemble Sonanza; Le torri di San Gimigniano for instrumental ensemble in the 15th International Composers’ Rostrum in Belgrade, 2006; ). He is the winner of Spe¬cial award of the Summer Academy Prague-Wien-Budapest ISA06 for composition Duet for two vi¬o¬lins, and the City of Belgrade Award for Young Artists for composition Whispering for two violas (2007). His art songs Hladno Šišmiš Huji on signalist po¬etry were published in the international magazine “The Signal” (Belgrade, 2006). He is the author of the monograph Microintervals in spectral geometry (2015) published by Andrejević Foundation.
