News from the Department of Ethnomusicology

Associate professor Dr. Selena Rakočević and Zdravko Ranisavljević participated in the conference of the Association of Folklorists of Serbia dedicated to intangible cultural heritage with the presentation “Traditional dance in Serbia  between intangible cultural heritage and contemporary art”.

Full professor Dr. Mirjana Zakić participated in the international conference of the Association of Folklorists of Serbia, dedicated to intangible cultural heritage with the paper “Protection of the practice of playing the kaval in Kosovo and Metohija”.

The conference was held in Tršić on 24 October 2021.


Dr. Selena Rakočević taught as a visiting professor at Choreomundus, an international master’s program dedicated to ethnochoreological and anthropological research of dance within an intensive course on dance as an intangible cultural heritage of the world. This course was conducted at Clermont Fernand University in France.
During two working weeks in the period from 11 to 23 October, Selena Rakočević held a series of lectures entitled “Challenges of preserving intangible cultural heritage: Perspectives of ethnochoreologists from Serbia”.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic situation the lectures were held online, opening therefore the possibility for Faculty of Music students to join as well.
