16th BIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MUSIC THEORY AND ANALYSIS
We are delighted to invite you to the 16th Biennial International Conference on Music Theory and Analysis, taking place from 2 to 4 October 2026 and organised by the Department of Music Theory at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
This year’s conference, entitled “Polyphony of Music Theory: Methodological Pluralism in Scholarship”, will bring together researchers from different academic and cultural contexts to explore a wide range of approaches, methods, and perspectives in music theory. The conference will consider how methodological pluralism enables contemporary music theory to remain deeply rooted in its own tradition while engaging with new analytical horizons and research perspectives.
The conference’s keynote speakers are:
Dr Thomas Christensen (USA)
Dr Sarah Marlowe (USA)
Dr Peter Schubert (Canada)
Welcome!
