INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE MUSIC THEORY AND ANALYSIS, 2–4 October 2026
The conference “Polyphony of Music Theory: Methodological Pluralism in Science,” organized by the Department of Music Theory, featured a ceremonial opening, plenary lectures by Dr. Thomas Christensen, Dr. Peter Schubert, and Sarah Marlowe, as well as numerous engaging and thought-provoking presentations by the participants. Together, they brought a multitude of colors, sounds, forms, and voices into a shared theoretical and analytical dialogue. Polyphony thus emerged through encounters between the traditional and the contemporary, the written and the interpreted, in the relationships between composers, performers, and audiences, as well as through diverse analytical readings of the musical work. The program was complemented by a concert of contemporary Serbian music performed by colleagues from the Poly-Instrumental Department of the Faculty of Music.
