17th International Conference of the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Music
Music in Socio-Cultural Turmoil (MSCT)
29–31 October 2025
University of Arts in Belgrade
The seventeenth international conference of the Department of Musicology, Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, is held this year under the title “Music in Socio-Cultural Turmoil (MSCT)“.
The thematic framework of the conference focuses on exploring the relationship between music and turmoil: the complex and dynamic processes through which musical creation, performance, education, and theoretical reflection intertwine with social, cultural, and broader transformations. In an academically grounded yet dynamic manner, music will be examined as a “space” in which the tensions and shifts of the contemporary world become visible, but also as a driving force of social imagination and collectivity.
An integral part of this year’s programme is the IN.TUNE National Dissemination Event, organised as part of the activities of the European university alliance IN.TUNE – Innovative Universities in Music and Arts in Europe. This segment comprises three interconnected layers – musicological engagement, educational activities, and artistic programmes – grounded in the key dimensions of the alliance: innovative education, research for education, and societal engagement.
Everyone interested is warmly welcome to attend the keynote lectures, paper presentations, panel, and artistic events!
